Alright well today is my first time learning how to draw. I was originally going to start out with a book but I decided to find a guide on YouTube as I think being able to see each stroke and just having more visuals in general will help me more.

I will follow the playlist from SchaeferArt. I really like so far how he encouraged you to spend time fucking around and to make mistakes.

I started off by learning how to sketch circles. After a few attempts I managed to make this.

I attempted to do the shading like in the video but it isn't very good. I probably should have added a second light source but oh well.

After that the video went into cubes so I started doing that. I spent the most time trying to understand how to make good cubes. I realized my first problem was I was making my lines too straight. Below is my favorite cube I made.

I later tried to add multiple around it but the lines are very consistent and it looks really wiggly.

Before I slept I watched a video from Pikat about drawing boxes and I learned that all boxes converge to the same vanishing points and. This changed how I thought about cubes and will help me massievly. If you are also struggling I would also highly recommend watching that video.

I think next time I will practice making straighter lines and getting better at 3D shapes.
